This kit is a great way to build understanding of how energy is generated, gears and gear ratios.
 
The kits have two options:
 
Basic kit:
This includes circuit board, electronic components, motor, bearings and gears. This kit is intended as being part of a wider task that involves students manufacturing the front of the charger, crank handle and gear rod - please note that the materials for these components are not included in basic kits
 
 
In the image example the front has been made from 3mm acrylic while crank handle and gear rod have been made from 4mm brass rod in order to be able to discuss self lubriction as a material quality.
 
Full Kit:
For those who want to reduce the time spent the full kit includes a second front board for students to use.
 
Material Packs:
The material packs are intended to take the effort out of sourcing and ordering the other materials needed to complete the charger. They packs inlcude all additional materials m & components necessary to manufacture the charger (excluding front plate material)

There are two options on materials:
 
Studding Option:
In this lengths of brass rod are supplied for the compound gear shaft (35mm per student) and the handle is produced from 124mm lengths of steel M4 studding. The studding is a cheaper option for those who aren't looking to cut screwthreads with students. All other materials needed are supplied (except for front plate materials to give schools the option of what material suits their needs)
 
Brass Option:
In this lengths of brass rod are supplied for the compound gear shaft (35mm per student) and crank handle (124mm). Students would cut the screwthreads needed for the crank handle manually. All other materials needed are supplied (except for front plate materials to give schools the option of what material suits their needs)
 
For 50 chargers the steel studding material pack includes:
 
7pcs M4 zinc coated steel studding in 1m lengths (124mm per student - 8 student's per length)
2 pcs 4mm brass rod for compound gear shaft (35mm per student)
6 x 760mm x7.9od butyrate tube - various colours (80mm per student)
200 x m4 nyloc nuts
150 x m4 nuts
150 x m4 x 35mm machine screws, pan head.
 
 
For 50 chargers the Brass material pack includes:
 
9pcs 4mm diameter brass rod in 1m lengths (165mm per student - 6 student's per length)
200 x m4 nyloc nuts
150 x m4 nuts
150 x m4 x 40mm machine screws, pan head.
